Post-Doctoral position on Single-photon emission from colloidal quantum dots
- (24000081)
Commitment & contract: collaboration contract
Location: Genova
THE ROLE
You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.
The Photonic Nanomaterials Research Unit is coordinated by Francesco Di Stasio. The research focuses on the development of light sources employing nanomaterials such as colloidal nanocrystals.
This includes the study of single-photon emission properties of a variety of colloidal quantum dots and in particular InAs ones, in order to correlate synthetic and structural parameters to emission characteristics.
The selected candidate will employ highly emissive InAs quantum dots (among others) based on core-shell architectures (e.g. InAs/ZnSe) and then characterize their emission at a single particle level. The candidate will have access to new state-of-the-art equipment for performing spectroscopy studies in both the visible and near-infrared spectral ranges.
Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be:
* Carry out spectroscopy studies of colloidal quantum dots presenting emission in the visible (400 – 700 nm) and near-infrared spectrum (700 – 1550 nm)
* Support peers in the optical characterization of other nanomaterials
* Support the supervision of PhD students
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* A PhD in Physics, Materials Science, or related fields
* Documented experience in performing single-photon studies on colloidal quantum dots and optical characterization
* Strong publication record
* Good command of spoken and written English
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
* Creativity and independent thinking
* Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
* Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
* Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset
COMPENSATION PACKAGE
* A yearly gross salary ranging between 38000 and 40000 euros
* Private health care coverage depending on your role and contract
* Candidates from abroad or Italian citizens who have carried scientific research activity permanently abroad and meet specific requirements, may be entitled to a deduction from taxable income of up to 90% from 6 to 13 years.
Please submit your application using the online form and including a detailed CV, cover letter, complete publication list and contact details of 2 references.
Application’s deadline: December 1st, 2024
