Offer Description
Eurac Research is an interdisciplinary research center located in Bolzano, Italy. At the Center for Sensing Solutions (CSS) we develop tailor-made solutions for research in alpine applications. Our approach consists in exploiting the full data life cycle, from collection to the analysis and dissemination of Data.
We are looking for a motivated Researcher (with an Environmental Science background) to join our new FUSION grant "GRASSROOTS" project, an innovative initiative focused on grassland resilience in South Tyrol. The project aims to assess the impact of climate change on managed pastures by developing Digital Twins and microclimate chamber simulations to test the response of different grass species under controlled conditions.
Tasks:
* Develop and apply Digital Twins to model grassland dynamics under diverse climate scenarios.
* Utilize spectroscopy techniques to monitor plant physiological responses.
* Integrate real-world datasets from managed pastures into simulation models.
* Conduct experiments in a microclimate chamber to test species resilience.
* Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and agronomists to validate findings.
Requirements:
* Background in Environmental Engineering, Agricultural Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
* Experience with spectroscopy, simulation modeling, and sensor-based monitoring.
* Knowledge of data processing and machine learning for environmental applications is a plus.
* Strong interest in climate adaptation strategies and sustainable grassland management.
* Ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
* Good knowledge of English, written and spoken.
* Good knowledge of Italian and/or German, written and spoken, is desirable, but not essential.
This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research with practical applications for climate-resilient agriculture. If you are eager to explore digital simulations and real-world ecological challenges, we would love to hear from you!
