Over the last decade, CMCC has experienced extraordinary growth. We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey, launching a cutting-edge Strategic Program on the Predicting socio-economic outcomes (PSEO) that will further boost CMCC’s global position in climate change research. The program will directly address challenges that are crucial to understanding the challenges facing socioeconomic systems in a changing climate environment and social context, producing science-based information to support policies aimed at building resilient societies through predictions of the socio-economic impacts of climate change.
We are looking for a Scientific Program Manager and a Junior Scientist, capable of effectively liaising with a multi-disciplinary research community, stakeholders, and external partners. We seek highly organized and motivated individuals with a proven track record in project/program management and collaborative work within the context of scientific research. You will contribute to the development of the program's strategic vision, its co-design, and implementation.

Role And Responsibilities
The Scientific Program Manager and Junior Scientist report to the PSEO Program Director, working for the smooth running of the Program and its related activities in close collaboration with the other CMCC research Institutes and Programs.
Duties include:
* Strategic support: contributing to the development and implementation of research objectives, initiatives, and deliverables (strategic documents, presentations, policy briefs, etc.)
* Stakeholder coordination: facilitating communication and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, such as researchers, administrators, and funding bodies.
* Problem-solving and decision-making: identifying operational challenges and proactively implementing solutions to address them, making data-driven decisions to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the research program
* Participate in the development of applied research projects aimed at improving climate information and supporting evidence-based decision-making
* Develop strategic communications and synthesis products to enhance the outreach and impact of CMCC research
* Write and contribute to scientific articles and science-policy reports and present at scientific workshops and conferences
* Teamwork: supporting and enhancing overall team performance
* Continuous improvement: evaluating and refining processes and activities to streamline and enhance the overall effectiveness of the research program
* Fundraising strategy coordination: mapping funding sources in collaboration with the Fundraising Office and in line with the financial plan of the three Institutes
Requirements
* PhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Environmental Policy and Management, Environmental Social Sciences, Economics or equivalent subjects
* Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a research field
* Scientific familiarity with climate change and risk, climate policy and solutions, sustainable development
* Strong focus on achieving research objectives
* Proven capability to plan, organize, and supervise research activities
* Accuracy and good analytical skills
* Knowledge of European, national, regional and philanthropic funding programs
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Excellent knowledge of the English language
Duration, Compensation & Benefits
* Please note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally.
* The Scientific Program Manager will be based in Venice or Milan CMCC offices
* Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience
* Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract
* Flexible working time as per internal policies
* Support during the immigration process, if needed
* The position is available for an immediate start
