Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled E2E Telecom System Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in defining the end-to-end architecture of our next generation European LEO satellite communications system (IRIS²). In this position, you’ll work closely with internal engineers, architects, product and business development managers, and external suppliers leading the development of system components. You will write technical requirements, perform system trade studies, define the concept of operations, and maintain the technical baseline, including all the interface definitions. You will work closely with the program and the Integration & Test team to ensure that the system is developed and is fit for purpose. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact within an organization that values growth, teamwork, and professional development.
Who You Are:
* You’re a system engineer who’s architected and followed the deployment and refinement of at least one large multi-user, bi-directional wireless communications system. This doesn’t have to be a satellite-based system.
* You’ve worked with or for comms system component suppliers, leading design reviews from either the supplier or customer side.
* You have a deep understanding and experience in the system development, integration, verification, and validation process.
* Possess 5-10 years of industry work experience.
What You’ll Do:
* Define and maintain the key sub-system level interface documentation and associated schema.
* Responsible for consistency of the data streams across interfaces (both internal and external) to ensure end-to-end consistency as part of the architecture team.
* Define the functional composition of the whole communications system – which subsystems perform various tasks and processes.
* Define and implement processes for making and tracking key architectural decisions and changes on interfaces using selected and appropriate tools.
* Own the Interface Management Plan and work with subsystem leaders and other system architects to ensure coherence of the system at interface level.
* Define CONOPS to ensure that the system functional flows are clearly defined.
What You’ll Need:
As well as systems engineering experience, you should have deep expertise and prior experience in the following specific areas:
* Strong background in the integration of all system segments including Payload, Mission Segment, Core Network, RAN, User Terminal, BSS, and OSS.
* Background in adaptations of communications systems for satellite deployments.
* Understanding of security/integrity protection both of User Data and the control/management systems.
You also should have experience of using various systems engineering software tools for requirements management and model-based systems engineering.
Where You’ll Work:
* Ideally based in one of the Eutelsat Group headquarters within the European Union, Paris, France or Torino, Italy.
* Flexible in-office and from-home remote work.
