AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key job responsibilities The successful candidate will be accountable for: Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture. Driving improvements in key performance metrics for large scale Data Centres across multiple AWS owned and Co-location sites. Delivering 100% uptime on all customer supporting infrastructure. Strategic planning and execution of corrective and preventative maintenance activities on mission-critical infrastructure. Managing strong technical teams and ensuring operational excellence and career development. Successful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructure. Managing vendor performance through regular performance reviews. Risk Management: adopting and planning corporate risk strategy. Critical Event Response readiness, including planning and incident management. Working within a complex organizational matrix and managing cross-functional relationships. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS · Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification equivalent work experience). · 5 years’ experience in a high-volume mission-critical operational environment (e.g., data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing). · First-hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, and operational performance. · A very good command of English. · Full EU/ IT driving license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS · 10 years relevant industry experience. · Demonstrate key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory. · Knowledge of safe electrical practice according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies. · Strong working knowledge of Data Center infrastructure, including UPS and backup generator systems. · Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low/high voltage cabling and BMS Systems.
