Role purpose:This role involves the design and development of new products, systems, and components, as well as the improvement of existing ones. It includes the technical coordination of product development, focusing on embedded systems and software architecture. Responsibilities include meeting customer requirements, complying with legal standards, ensuring product quality, and promoting innovation and efficiency, without assuming managerial functions.Additionally, this role requires strong expertise in signal theory, particularly in microwave technology and 60 GHz radar systems. Hands-on experience in firmware development and the use of tools such as MATLAB and Simulink for code generation targeting small embedded systems is also essential.Key accountabilities and decision ownership:Collaborate with colleagues on development projects by providing the necessary technical support to Project Management.Produce documentation regarding system architecture, traceability with customer requirements, and system verification criteria.Support model-based simulations to verify algorithm design options and suggest improvements.Develop software and hardware architectures, manage software requirements, and perform risk analysis.Support field return analysis and promote continuous improvement of internal design standards.Cooperate with the PM department to build the project plan and budget for each feasibility study, issuing a specific product development plan (work packages, risks, etc.).Ensure work packages align with the project plan, expected quality level, and timing, promptly reporting any deviations to management.Map and monitor the development process, proposing and implementing improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.Specifically, manage and coordinate the design, simulation, and validation activities for radar systems (up to 60 GHz), integrating expertise in signal theory, microwave technology, and embedded firmware development to deliver advanced solutions.Core competencies, knowledge and experience:Strong communication skills.Excellent planning, prioritization, and organization abilities.Detailed knowledge of the organization set-up and key personnel (inside and outside the business).Good understanding of the aims and objectives of VBS, Heads of, and their organizations.Engineering skills specific to the discipline.Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.Proficiency in SysML/UML.Solid understanding of system engineering principles.Familiarity with international automotive standards.Knowledge of vehicle communication buses (LIN, CAN, etc.).Understanding of automotive standards (ISO/TS 16949, Automotive SPiCE) and safety-critical systems (ISO 26262).Expertise in embedded systems, MQTT, 4G/5G networks, and RTOS environments (for connected devices).Proficiency in model-based design tools such as MATLAB and Simulink, and vibration and acoustic simulation (nice to have).In-depth expertise in signal theory, microwave technologies, and 60 GHz radar systems, including signal processing techniques and data validation.Experience with automatic code generation using Simulink Coder for small embedded system targets, focusing on resource optimization and performance.Proven expertise in cybersecurity for embedded systems, ensuring robust protection and secure communication protocols.Demonstrated experience in firmware development integrated with MATLAB and Simulink tools.Must have technical / professional qualifications:Degree in electronic/computer science or a similar qualification.8–10 years of experience in engineering.Self-motivated.Professional with a flexible and proactive approach.Successful experience at a similar level in other roles.Good knowledge of written and spoken English.Strong team-working skills.Internal knowledge of the company's organization and procedures.Certifications such as IATF and experience with AUTOSAR architectures.Advanced knowledge in signal processing principles and microwave/radar technologies, specifically for 60 GHz systems.Preferable to have experience in cybersecurity measures for embedded systems (ISO 21434).
