We are looking for a Food Contact Compliance Specialist to join our Innovation Center in Settimo Torinese.
This role ensures that products meet food contact safety standards by applying compliance parameters, testing for harmful chemicals, and assessing health risks. It involves coordinating with external labs, collaborating with R&D and cross-functional teams on material selection, and tracking KPIs to measure FCC process effectiveness. Additionally, the role includes staying updated on industry developments and providing reports to management for decision-making.
* Drive the compliance of packaging materials destined to be in contact with food following global legislation and company requirements, to support and enable project launch.
o Review and evaluate suppliers' compliance declaration documents.
o Defining analytical plans to predict the affinity of some substances to food and verifying the compliance of final pack (overall migrations, specific migrations, NIAS, set-off effect, risk assessment, and sensory evaluation).
o Ensure data accuracy from our external laboratories and updated reports are entered into our records.
o Elaborating documents related to the projects: FCC packaging specifications, final reports of compliance status, summary presentations for varied audience and different hierarchical levels of FCC status.
* Propose a solid FCC approach and solutions related to different scenarios: type of project (new packaging vs existing packaging), budget assigned, substances that could emerge during the assessment, previous (historical) data.
* Work closely with internal stakeholders (Regulatory, Packaging, Project Lead, Quality, etc.) and external stakeholders (suppliers, partner laboratories, etc.) through effective communication and assertive information, meetings and supplier visits.
* Support improvement strategies of processes/way of working of the FCC area.
* You have 2+ years of experience in food contact compliance in food industry or packaging or service (laboratory).
* You have a degree in Food Science, Chemistry or similar field.
* You have expertise in food contact material safety, packaging material laboratory testing, food shelf life assessment.
* You’ll be fluent in Italian and English.
* 2+ years of experience in quality management system (e.g., management of non-conformities) will be considered a plus.
