Chaberton Professionals, a division of Chaberton Partners dedicated to the research and selection of Middle Management profiles, is currently looking for a Business Development Manager for a pharmaceutical company. Key responsibilities Client Acquisition and Relationship Management: Identify and Prospect New Clients: Research and identify potential pharmaceutical companies or biotech firms in need of CDMO services (such as drug development, manufacturing, packaging, etc.). Build and Maintain Relationships: Foster strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and repeat business. Networking: Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to build a broad network of industry contacts and stay informed about market trends. Sales and Revenue Generation: Lead Generation: Actively generate leads and opportunities for new business through strategic outreach, cold calling, and leveraging existing relationships. Sales Negotiation and Closure: Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients, ensuring mutually beneficial terms and achieving sales targets. Revenue Growth: Drive revenue growth by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing client accounts. Market and Industry Intelligence: Market Analysis: Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activities, regulatory changes, and market needs. Use this information to identify new business opportunities. Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitors’ offerings and develop strategies to position the company effectively within the market. Proposal Development and Presentations: Proposal Preparation: Develop and deliver tailored proposals, presentations, and pitches to prospective clients, highlighting the CDMO's capabilities and value proposition. Technical Understanding: Understand and articulate complex technical capabilities of the CDMO (e.g., drug formulation, manufacturing processes, regulatory compliance) to clients in a clear and compelling manner. Contract Negotiation and Management: Contract Terms: Negotiate terms of agreements, including timelines, pricing, confidentiality, intellectual property, and service levels. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all business agreements comply with industry regulations and the company’s quality standards. Required background Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, business administration, or a related field. A master’s degree (MBA or MSc) in life sciences or business is a plus. Proficiency in English is also required. 5–10 years of business development, sales, or account management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or CDMO (Contract Development & Manufacturing Organization) industry. Proven track record in B2B sales, contract negotiation, and client acquisition within CDMO, CMO, or CRO environments. Experience working with finished dosage form development, formulation or manufacturing particularly with solid and liquid dosage forms. Understanding of GMP regulations, FDA/EMA guidelines, and pharmaceutical development processes. Location Europe. The position can be home office based with frequent travel to customers and regular visits to the manufacturing site in Italy.
