Internship - Accounts Payable Accountant
RINA is currently recruiting for a Internship - Accounts Payable Accountant to join its office in Genoa (Italy) within the Global Administration & Financial Statement Division.
Mission
As an Accounts Payable Intern, you will support the management and processing of financial transactions related to the company's payments to vendors, suppliers, and other creditors. Your primary focus will be to assist in accurately recording, documenting, and preparing invoices and expenses, while gaining experience and learning the processes involved in ensuring timely payments.
Key Accountabilities
Invoice Processing:
1. Learn to receive and review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company policies
2. Assist in matching invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents to ensure proper authorization and receipt of goods or services
3. Support the coding and entry of invoices into the accounting system for payment
Vendor Management:
1. Support the maintenance of relationships with vendors by addressing inquiries or discrepancies regarding invoices
2. Assist in resolving payment issues or discrepancies through communication with vendors
Payment Processing:
1. Help prepare and process payments through various methods, such as electronic funds transfers (EFT) or other payment systems
2. Contribute to ensuring payments to vendors are timely and accurate, in accordance with payment terms
Recordkeeping and Documentation:
1. Assist in maintaining accurate and organized records of accounts payable transactions
2. Support the preparation and maintenance of reports related to accounts payable activities
Month-end Reconciliation:
1. Learn how to reconcile the accounts payable sub-ledger with the general ledger
2. Assist in the month-end closing process by providing reports and documentation as needed
Compliance and Policies:
1. Gain an understanding of internal policies, accounting principles, and relevant regulations to ensure compliance
Continuous Improvement:
1. Observe and identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the accounts payable function
Communication:
1. Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and finance, to support accurate and timely processing of payments
Problem Resolution:
1. Assist in investigating and resolving discrepancies or issues related to accounts payable
Ad Hoc Tasks:
1. Participate in other financial tasks or projects as assigned by supervisors or management
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Economics or Business Administration Finance Management
Qualifications
1. Interest in accounts payable, accounting and finance
2. Understanding of accounting principles and practices is essential
3. Knowledge of spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel) for data analysis and reporting
4. Analytical skills with the ability to identify discrepancies and effectively problem-solve
5. Fluency in Italian and a good level of English (both written and spoken) is required
