RINA is currently recruiting for a Junior Fleet Performance Compliance Engineer to join its office in Genova within the Marine Compliance, Classification & Statutory Certification Division.
Mission
The Fleet Performance Compliance Junior Engineer is responsible for monitoring and analyzing the performance of vessels within the fleet to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and optimal operational efficiency. The Junior Engineer works closely with senior engineers and ship operators to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to enhance fleet performance. The role involves data analysis, report generation, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support the classification society's mission of promoting safety and sustainability in the maritime industry.
Key Accountabilities
* Response to Port State or Flag State detentions:
In the event a vessel is detained, assists Senior Engineers and works closely with Port and Flag State Authorities and Marine Operations to ensure swift resolution. Assists in providing support and documentation as required to facilitate the vessel's release from detention.
* Fleet Performance Monitoring:
Provide support to Senior Engineers in the monitoring of the operational performance of ships within the fleet. This involves collecting and analyzing data related to the ship's machinery, systems, and overall performance to ensure compliance with classification and regulatory standards.
* Data Collection:
Gather data from various sources, websites, and classification society databases.
* Performance Analysis:
Analyze the collected data to assess the overall performance of the fleet. Assist Senior Engineers in data analysis in order to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
* Port State Control Support:
Assist in preparing ships for Port State Control inspections. Ensure that vessels meet all safety and environmental standards required by port authorities and flag state regulations.
* Reporting:
Assist Senior Engineers in preparing reports and presentations summarizing the fleet's performance and compliance status. Share this information with ship operators and other stakeholders within the classification society.
* Recommendations:
Support Senior Engineers in collecting and providing recommendations for maintenance and repairs to ensure that ships operate safely, efficiently, and in accordance with regulatory requirements. Collaborate with Marine Operations to implement these recommendations.
* Research and Development:
Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes. Investigate new technologies and practices that can improve fleet performance and compliance.
* Communication:
Collaborate with shipowners, operators, and other relevant parties to address performance issues, provide technical expertise, and ensure open lines of communication for continuous improvement.
* Documentation:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all fleet-related data, reports, and performance assessments.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Naval Engineering or Engineering General
High School Diploma/GED in Transport and Logistics
Qualifications
* Proficiency in English language written and spoken
* Good knowledge of marine systems, ship operations, and maritime regulations.
* Analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and identify performance trends.
* Knowledge in data analysis tools and software such as Microsoft Office, Power BI
* Experience as Deck/Engineer Officer (requested for candidates with High School Diploma)
