Job Title: Director
We are seeking a full-time Director to work alongside our Founder in promoting represented artists, adding new artists to our roster, designing exhibition programs and event calendars, and growing our collector base. The candidate will be responsible for driving sales across all gallery channels.
About Upsilon Gallery:
We are a contemporary art gallery and fine print publisher with locations in NYC, London, and Milan. We deal in modern, post-war and contemporary original and editioned artwork, focusing on Minimalism, Pop Art and Abstract Expressionism. Our specialization lies in private sales in the secondary market, as well as participating in major art fairs worldwide. We produce ongoing art historical research and original scholarship through publishing exhibition catalogues, monographs, and other key publications.
Requirements:
* BA in Art History and/or Arts Administration, along with at least 5 years of sales experience in an international art gallery, museum, or auction house.
* Proven ability to meet annual sales goals.
* Direct hands-on experience with and knowledge of Modern, Post-war and Contemporary art.
* Strong familiarity with client database systems, such as Artlogic.
* Meticulous organization in client follow-up.
* A self-starter with the ability to solve complex problems under tight deadlines and challenging situations.
* Access to an existing collector base and art world network.
* Driven, go-getter attitude with the ability to follow through with clients, focusing on closing the sale.
* Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong sales background.
* Superior communication skills, both spoken and written.
* Proven IT skills in all areas, including Microsoft Office Suite, with the aptitude to learn additional programs as needed.
* Personable, well-spoken, and experienced in accommodating high-end clientele.
Location: Milan
This is a full-time position working Monday – Friday, 10:00 - 18:00, with occasional need to work additional hours.
