Digital Hardware Engineer
Platforms Digital Hardware Engineers are part of a team dedicated to research and development of state‑of‑the-art edge-computing platforms designed to become trusted building blocks on which most of the new generation Datalogic products will be based.
Main duties and responsibilities of a Platforms Digital Hardware Engineers are:
1. to contribute to define detailed requirements of new edge-computing platforms, starting from higher level requirements provided by Datalogic Business Units
2. to design and develop new edge-computing platforms in accordance with predefined project requirements and in collaboration with BSP-SW engineers and the other involved R&D, Procurement, Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and Quality teams
3. to scout and evaluate novel technologies and electronic components suitable to develop new edge‑computing platforms
4. to design electrical schematics and to support layout design and simulations of PCBs
5. to design FPGA-based subsystems of edge-computing platforms and to implement them through VHDL programming
6. to contribute to define the validation-test plans assuring full coverage of all requirements of electronic boards under development
7. to perform measurements and functional tests on prototypes and alpha/beta samples of the designed boards, by using the needed instruments and equipment
8. to debug prototypes and alpha/beta samples of the designed boards
9. to take care of technical documentation of design, development, and test activities
10. to support Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in implementing and optimizing mass‑production processes of boards based on the developed edge‑computing platforms
11. to support Procurement team in material-cost-reduction activities related to the developed edge‑computing platforms
12. to support program managers to estimate effort required to carry out assigned tasks and to keep updated project plans, facilitating monitoring of own task progress
13. to embrace innovation culture of our Company, contributing to generate invention disclosures and to scout/evaluate novel and differentiating technologies.
