Overview Element is looking for a highly motivated and qualified Corrosion Engineer to join our team. This is a great opportunity for your growth in the ENERGY sector. The selected person will be responsible for performing corrosion testing according to national and international standards, analyzing data, and collaborating with other laboratory departments. The candidate will need to possess a range of technical skills, including compliance with safety regulations. The work location will be at Element's Crema (CR) facility. Responsibilities Provide technical and engineering capabilities, and support the development of new technologies within the laboratory. Be accountable for accurate and timely delivery of Corrosion projects, both routine and complex bespoke projects, including the release of testing data to customers, peer review, and sign-off of quality control data as acceptable. Obtain guidance in non-routine situation testing. Oversee standard, routine, and bespoke technical problem-solving activities and projects, including sour service corrosion. Interact with customers on technical issues and questions. Provide input and support on business development opportunities with new or existing customers. Make both formal and informal presentations on conventional, routine, and more complex bespoke testing to a wide range of stakeholders. Assist in the professional development and technical oversight of novice technicians and engineers within the local laboratory. Carry out crucial examination and implementation of testing concepts and data. Utilize an assortment of skills, methods, procedures, and materials in advanced corrosion testing analysis. Draw on internal knowledge as well as industry and/or academic resources in reaching testing conclusions. Work within recognized and accredited quality systems. Skills / Qualifications Metallurgy / Materials Science / Chemical Engineering / Chemistry Degree (e.g. BSc, BEng) with a minimum of 5 years of corrosion-related experience. Metallurgy / Materials Science / Chemical Engineering / Chemistry Master's degree (e.g. MSc, MPhil, MEng) with a minimum of 3 years of corrosion-related experience. Ideally with work-related experience in a corrosion field. Experience / knowledge of sour-service test methods would be desirable. Basic knowledge of the principles of aqueous corrosion with the ability to apply the knowledge to industrial situations. Keen interest in corrosion, with the desire to develop technical knowledge and skills. Desire to work towards achieving CEng status. Ability to guide and mentor technicians. Understanding of laboratory safety and quality requirements. Practical aptitude with the ability to safely work within a laboratory environment.
