Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for commercial scale solar PV projects
* Analyze project specifications, technical drawings, and site conditions to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements
* Develop comprehensive bill of quantities (BOQ) for solar PV installations
* Review and interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and project requirements
* Perform preliminary system designs to support accurate estimation
* Identify potential technical challenges and propose cost-effective solutions
* Ensure all estimates comply with National Electrical Code (NEC) standards and local regulations
* Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams
* Maintain a database of historical cost data and estimation metrics
* Analyze completed projects to compare estimated versus actual costs
* Identify opportunities for cost optimization and process improvement
* Participate in value engineering exercises to optimize project costs
* Support contract negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Renewable Energy)
* Minimum of 3-5 years of engineering experience, preferably in solar PV or related field
* Demonstrated experience in cost estimation, project planning, or related functions
* Knowledge of solar PV systems, components, and installation methods
* Understanding of electrical systems and National Electrical Code (NEC) requirements
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications
* Experience with estimation software and tools
* Working knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD or similar)
* Familiarity with solar design software (PVsyst, HelioScope, or similar)
* Strong analytical and mathematical skills for accurate cost calculations
* Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
* Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel for detailed cost analysis
