Electrical Design Engineer I Description
Our client in the power transformer industry is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their team southwest of Pittsburgh, PA. In this role, you will support electrical design for power transformers and collaborate internally with various project teams from concept to final testing. This role is open to both new graduates and experienced engineers with a strong foundation in electrical engineering, physics, and mathematics. Electrical Design Engineer I Responsibilities
1. Learn the design, manufacturing, and testing requirements of power transformers
2. Understand and interpret customer specifications and expectations
3. Create prototype designs and manufacturing documents for cores and windings
4. Perform calculations and analysis to verify transformer design accuracy
5. Spend time training and collaborating on the manufacturing shop floor
6. Create material requisitions based on designs and customer specifications
7. Troubleshoot design challenges and oversee projects from concept to testing
8. Address questions from internal teams regarding electrical design for custom projects
9. Balance time effectively between design and project support tasks
10. Assist in software development for design processes
11. Produce detailed design reports and documentation as required
Electrical Design Engineer I Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required
2. Solid understanding of electrical engineering, physics, and mathematical concepts is required
3. Strong computer skills, including some CAD & a desire to learn programming is required
4. Ability to work 100% on-site is required
5. On-call availability required (minimal, mostly remote resolutions)
