Data Center Engineering Operations Chief Engineer, DCEO AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the critical equipment that ensures our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. You’ll join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles.
As a Data Center Chief Engineer (CE), you will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data centers.
2. Assist in the design and build-out of new facilities.
3. Act as an escalation point for facilities-related issues within the data center region.
4. Perform root cause analysis of equipment failures.
5. Troubleshoot and report facility and data server-level events within internal SLA.
6. Create and deploy new standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians and vendor support teams.
7. Provide training and guidance to Engineering Operations Technicians.
8. Ensure adherence to safety procedures by vendor and Amazon staff.
9. Utilize internal Change Management Systems to manage building workflows.
10. MV/LV Isolation to facilitate MV maintenance.
11. Provide metric availability reporting on a weekly basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
* Strong working knowledge and experience of Data Center infrastructure (UPS, backup generator systems, chillers, etc.).
* Full EU driving license and advanced level of English.
* Experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or Mission Critical Plants.
* Project Management experience.
