About the Role
Monks is looking for a technical artist. Main categories of daily work will be pipeline development and artist support, acting as a bridge between artists and our Unreal Engine pipeline. It is important to ensure art content and features are easily integrated into the engine, while respecting the artistic vision and technical constraints of the project and pipeline.
Responsibilities
* Work with generalists to create 3D art and bring it into the engine
* Support artists in the use of the 3D art pipeline and user-facing engine tools
* Provide hands-on support to artists in regard to asset performance and validation
* Review creative process and identify opportunities for tool improvements
* Maintain and develop rigging pipeline & tools and extensions with an eye towards usability and efficiency
* Solve challenging technical issues in the UE shading pipeline
* Collaborate with artists and testers to diagnose and resolve problems
* Inspire and empower the art team to optimise their processes
About You
The essentials:
* Must have extensive knowledge of UE Blueprints
* Must be able to develop tools within UE
* Knowledge of Rigging (ControlRig)
* Must be a good problem solver
* Deadline-oriented
* Fluent in English, both spoken and written. German is a plus.
* Ability to learn quickly and share knowledge
* Intrinsic curiosity
* Self-motivated
Not a must, but a plus:
* Knowledge of coding (C++ / Python) is a good add-on
* Knowledge of USD
* Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git)
* Experience with premium brands and high-end applications
* Other 3D software skills are a plus (Maya / Blender)
* Automotive Industry experience (CAD Data)
* Knowledge of shading
* Understanding the principles of offline rendering productions
