ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT:
The Asset Management Unit (AMU) is part of the Infrastructure and Facilities Management Branch (MSDI) of WFP. The AMU is responsible for providing WFP offices with necessary policies, guidance, and tools to manage assets globally.
This position is home-based with the expectation that the candidate has easy access to a well-connected international airport to travel. The incumbent will be under the supervision of the Head of Global Asset Service Team or a more senior disposal officer.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
The assignment relates to the disposal of Assets, including Light Vehicles, in WFP's Country Offices through a sale by auction process. The incumbent will be expected to support with the disposal of unused and obsolete assets in the Country Offices and work in close collaboration with AMU in HQ, WFP Country Offices, and Regional Bureaus. Responsibilities include:
* Conducting analyses for the overall WFP/UNHCR joint planning exercise.
* Organizing, conducting, and documenting auctions (both physical or online) assigned as per plan.
* Identifying saleable assets and ensuring completion of all actions to prepare for the auction.
* Setting and agreeing reserve prices with the CO and UNHCR (if applicable).
* Ensuring that lots are properly defined and valued.
* Being present during the auctions to ensure proper execution.
* Preparing auction results reports and ensuring all monies are collected.
* Providing monthly reports of activities, including numbers and acquisition value of assets disposed of.
* Assisting in evaluating service providers and providing advice on asset disposals.
* Carrying out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
This position requires extensive travel to numerous WFP field locations – for up to 3 weeks at a time.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
* Necessary admin documents produced and approved by relevant bodies.
* Auction report detailing Gross Revenues, Fees by lots and categories.
* Corporate systems updated after each auction.
* Financial transactions executed by all relevant stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Education: University degree in Business Management, Finance or similar, or additional years of work experience in lieu of the university degree.
* Experience: 3 years minimum of work experience in Business Management, Accounting or similar.
* Eligibility Criteria: Ability to travel up to 75% of the time; selected candidate should have at least two working hours overlapping daily with HQ working hours.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
* Strong analytical skills and understanding of asset and fleet management.
* Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work with people at all levels.
* Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a remote team-based environment.
* Extensive proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
Languages: Spoken and written English is essential. Other UN language is an asset.
