Bethanie Como is a 99 bed luxury suite home that provides the full range of aged care services including dementia support, palliative care and respite services.
We are looking for someone with a passion for working with people of all abilities and backgrounds. Our Therapy Assistants have an enthusiastic and creative approach to their work and are able to support our residents’ strengths and interests.
This is a permanent, part-time position offering 35.5 hours a week. The successful applicant would be available to work across the following shifts as required:
* Tuesday – Saturday
* 9am – 4pm/5pm/6pm
An important component of this role is the ability to work autonomously and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions independently. You will be able to work under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, while also being confident in using your initiative and creative thinking to ensure sessions run smoothly. We are looking for someone who thrives in a role where every day is different, and who is passionate about supporting meaningful engagement with people of all abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Implement therapy and lifestyle programs for groups and individual residents
* Adapt activities to resident’s level of function under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
* Address physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for residents
* Maintain accurate documentation, both paper and computer-based
Requirements:
* Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally in an aged care or other health care environment
* Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent)
* Experience working with residents with dementia would be an advantage
* Ability to communicate clearly in both a verbal and written capacity with care recipients, families and team members
* Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
* Willingness to uphold the vision, mission and values of The Bethanie Group
* A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
