Adecco Explora is looking for a MRO Mechanical Buyer for a logistics company. The resource will follow one of their clients, a leader in the pharmaceutical sector, and will be responsible for procurement and sourcing of MRO spare parts for machinery at this new client site in Italy within the pharmaceutical industry. The role involves close collaboration with the maintenance department, analyzing inventory consumption data, negotiating with suppliers to reduce costs, and building a comprehensive database to track all machines, associated parts, and required inventory levels.
Responsibilities and authorities:
Supplier Management:
Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with Mechanical component suppliers.
Negotiate terms and conditions, including pricing, delivery schedules, and payment terms.
Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Material Sourcing
Source and procure equipment and materials in accordance with project specifications and production requirements.
Evaluate potential suppliers for quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends and pricing.
Collaboration
Work closely with engineering, maintenance and operations to understand project requirements and specifications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on procurement strategies.
Provide input on design changes and alternatives to optimize costs.
Cost Negotiation
Negotiate favourable terms with suppliers to achieve cost savings without compromising quality or delivery schedules.
Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data to determine reasonable prices.
Order Management
Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Track and expedite orders to meet production and project timelines.
Resolve issues related to shortages, overages, or quality discrepancies.
Risk Management
Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
Maintain awareness of market trends, geopolitical events, and other factors that may impact the supply chain.
Skills, education, training, or experience required:
3-5 years of experience in technical/mechanical procurement (Mechanical Buyer, Sourcing, Supply Chain).
Good technical background – understanding of machinery, industrial equipment, and spare parts.
Proven experience in sourcing, supplier identification, and price negotiations with international vendors.
Familiarity with manufacturing or maintenance industries (pharmaceutical, heavy industry, production).
Ability to analyze consumption data and develop inventory management models.
Fluent in Italian and English – mandatory.
Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently at times
Experience with inventory management systems (ERP, SAP, etc.) – an Advantage
Background in supply chain project management - an Advantage
Direct placement, RAL commensurate with experience
Location: The client has four factories around Milan, and it is likely that the main location will be in Santhi (VC)
