Project Engineer
is responsible for developing and maintaining the conditions for the sale of components and sub-systems, focusing on strategic customers and recurring business. The role involves managing and supervising technical projects, ensuring their proper sizing, timely completion, and compliance with quality and safety standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical & Business Development Promote sales of material handling and automation vacuum EOAT/Sub-Systems within the market. Develop channels for the growth of standardized EOAT offerings. Provide technical support for company products and solutions. Work closely with sales teams and other engineering groups to achieve growth objectives. Support the development of new products related to customer solutions (design, testing, and technical support). Conduct vacuum sizing calculations, implement technical solutions, and select optimal options based on client needs. Training & Knowledge Sharing: Conduct advanced training for internal teams (ASMs, AEs, and channel partners) regarding EOAT solutions Provide market and product intelligence to support growth strategies (e.g., technology and product trends, M&A candidates). Ensure proper governance of EOAT projects, facilitating measurable sales results. Act as a liaison with R&D teams, contributing to the R&D funnel and innovation initiatives. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships, gaining access to new customers, applications, and specialized expertise. Represent Piab at conferences and industry events to strengthen technological and business collaborations. Expand and maintain a strong business network within target industries. SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Technical Skills Strong knowledge of industrial automation, specifically vacuum automation. Basic CAD software proficiency. Experience with project & business management, robotics, material handling, or product development. Ability to track offers, draft test reports, and lead technical meetings. Knowledge of 2D & 3D design, solution development, and assembly planning (preferred). Soft Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving ability. Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to manage relationships across organizational levels. Self-organizing and independent in managing complex environments. International mindset—ability to work across diverse cultures. Fluent English and Italian required. Education & Experience Technical degree (Bac+2 BTS to Bac+5 in Engineering). Background in mechanics and automation. Experience in managing technical projects and business development.
