Polo d'Innovazione di Genomica, Genetica e Biologia (Polo GGB) is a highly specialized Italian private enterprise operating in the Life Sciences field.
The Ecology and Genetics branch of Polo GGB, based in Terni (Italy), is a cutting-edge research center working on various aspects of biology of vector mosquitoes.
A postdoctoral researcher position is available immediately to work under the supervision of Dr. Jaroslaw Krzywinski on a project funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Project Overview
The project aims at identification and characterization of molecular interactions involved in the sex determination and sexual differentiation of the African malaria mosquito, Anopheles gambiae.
The candidate is expected to have a strong background in either biochemistry or molecular biology and genetics.
Requirements
* Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field.
* Expertise and hands-on experience in protein biochemistry, molecular cloning, mass spectrometry technologies, cell culture and transfection.
* Demonstrated proficiency in experimental design, data acquisition, analysis, and manuscript preparation.
The employment duration will be 20 months, with a possibility of extension dependent on the availability of funds.
