Job Description Summary
The Facilities and Utilities Engineer is responsible to maintain and improve the buildings and utilities, following HSE and Quality standard and compliance needs.
Reporting to the Facilities and Utilities Lead, he/she is responsible for the execution and coordination of the operational and maintenance activities related to: site utilities (mechanical plants, technical gases, chillers, boilers, electrical plants, UPS, emergency diesel generators) and related automation (e.g. BMS Desigo supervision), site buildings (office and lab air conditioning, doors and windows, lifts, minor building repairs, carpentry) and related automation systems (e.g. access control, security and TVCC).
Additionally, the Facilities and Utilities Engineer participates to the startup and maintenance of the energy monitoring system, supports the achievement of the site sustainability objectives and ensures compliance with regulatory, corporate and site requirements related to its functional area.
Job Description
Major accountabilities:
* Ensures reliable, efficient and sustainable operation of the GMP and non-GMP plants (mechanical plants, technical gases, chillers, boilers, electrical plants, UPS, emergency diesel generators) by executing field activities (e.g. BMS supervision, plant regulation and monitoring) and by performing minor mechanical/electrical interventions.
* Coordinates and supervises the maintenance activities (preventive/corrective/extraordinary) performed by external suppliers on site utilities and buildings, ensuring that the staff is appropriately trained and qualified.
* Is part of the on-call emergency team to be contacted for issues on critical plants.
* Manages the activities with permit to work system according to site and HSE standards and may act as responsible for electrical and thermal plants.
* Coordinates and supervises general repair of Facilities and Utilities through small projects and supports current and future capital projects and site goal objectives.
* Establishes and monitors KPIs related to Energy and Water consumptions and drives saving initiatives within Novartis sustainability framework.
* Contributes to the Change Management, Deviations and CAPAs for Facilities and Utilities and acts as SMEs during inspections and audits.
* Implements sharing and leveraging of best practices and expertise related to maintenance and tools across Novartis network.
* Contributes to the development of contractual strategy and framework to manage vendors and contractors and corresponding contracts.
* Supports the development of the Site Master Plan and other Engineering initiatives or programs as required.
Essential requirements:
* Technical background (i.e. degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Energy Engineering or High school degree in technical field) with experience in Facility and Utility management.
* Previous similar experience within a GMP environment.
* Fluent in Italian. Good knowledge of English.
