The Surgery Senior Financial Controller within our MedTech organization is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of the financial agenda of the Surgery Business Unit in Italy, by acting as a valued business partner to the Business Unit Leader of Surgery and the board. This role ensures financial health, shapes the strategy execution, supports and drives decision-making to drive profitable growth (e.g. on portfolio optimizations, on go to market models, on pricing strategy) while leading financial processes and operational simplifications through the integration on digital tools. The Surgery Senior Financial Controller role reports into the Finance Director MedTech Italy and will be located in Milano, Italy. Key responsibilities: Strategic Business Partnering and Cross-functional collaboration: Act as a strategic and trusted advisor to the Surgery franchise lead, to the Italian MedTech leadership team and to the EMEA Surgery counterparts, supporting financial decision-making by providing insights and analysis on new business opportunities / market expansions, investment strategies (incl. resource allocation, cost optimization, portfolio rationalization), pricing (incl. tender and commercial offer) and other key projects (e.g. working capital improvement) to drive profitable growth. Act as strategic partner to the functions (e.g. supply chain, HR) providing financial insights for innovation and operational efficiency. Financial Operations and Risk & Compliance Management: Manage the delivery of the Surgery Italy P&L to ensure that targets are met and financial commitments are attained while balancing risks and opportunities: develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for financial and operational excellence, conduct analysis and provide actionable insights to business partners to drive execution. Support all monthly/quarterly closing activities for the area of responsibility, working closely with the accounting organization, providing analysis and commentary of variances and ensuring communication with the business. Lead financial forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning for the franchise to navigate the industry challenges and opportunities while leveraging digital automation. Maintain strong internal controls and risk management frameworks where all compliance requirements are met (e.g. SOX, Records Retention, HCC/HCBI/IAPP etc) and ensure adherence to industry regulations, while optimizing financial efficiency. Technology and Digital transformation: Drive and lead adoption of AI-driven financial analytics, automation and advanced ERP systems to improve efficiency. Implement predictive analytics for forecasting (e.g. sales, profitability, cash flow) and real-time data reporting dashboards for improved decision-making. Stay ahead of industry trends in FinTech and digital transformation to enhance financial processes. People Management: Develop a strong partnership with the Surgery Regional finance team, FP&A COE, Tax and GS Finance built on high levels of trust and transparent communication. Develop and lead a Senior Financial Analyst fostering a high-performance culture that embraces agility and continuous learning. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field with recognized Professional qualification (e.g. CPA, CFA, ACCA). 8 years of financial experience, preferably in MedTech, Pharmaceuticals or Life Science industry. Proven track record in business unit finance / franchise or business controlling position is a must. Strong knowledge of MedTech / Pharmaceutical industry, health care systems dynamics, sales channels, tendering, regulatory and compliance framework. Proven leadership and partnering skills with the ability to influence and drive strategic change (strong interpersonal skills, team player mentality, collaborative working style, excellent communication, influencing and framing skills).
