The Role
WIRED Italy is seeking an experienced Web Editor to join the local Editorial Team in Italy. Sitting in HQ of Milan ,this role involves managing news content, optimizing SEO strategy, coordinating digital efforts, and collaborating with various teams to produce high-quality journalism, including investigations, live interviews, and events.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Assign and edit news briefs, in-depth reports and investigations in current affairs and economics with an approach that aligns with and enhances WIRED's vision. This includes, for example, analyses of national and international regulations on tech and digital issues (such as the European AI Act), stories of startups and innovative companies, reports on Big Tech's influence on politics, and insights into novel markets.
2. Produce articles and cover press appointments
3. Enhance the role of the newspaper, promoting the production of scoops and investigations of strong social and public value
4. Know how to carry out timely follow-ups, even under tight deadlines
5. Contribute to the preparation and conduct of the newspaper's events
6. Carry out live interviews/editing even in English
7. Optimize articles from an SEO perspective, and take care of the SEO positioning strategy of the masthead in collaboration with other business functions
8. Coordinate the activity of the social team and other digital products, such as videos and podcasts
9. Interface with the various local and international corporate departments involved in editorial processes, such as video teams and colleagues from WIRED's foreign editions
10. Contribute to the realization of the editorial plan of the newspaper
Primary Skills & Qualifications
11. 3-4 years of previous experience in similar roles is welcome
12. Professional fluency in Italian and English, written and spoken
13. Ability to work under pressure, under tight deadlines, without sacrificing precision and accuracy
14. Interest in the areas of WIRED (Technology, Innovation, Digital) but also cross-functional skills with respect to areas of journalism (Foreign, Economics, Politics, Science)
15. Strong editorial judgement
