We are looking for a Junior System Engineer to join our team in Frascati, Italy. As part of the PDGS Engineering Support Service, you will have the opportunity to support the ESA Common Service Section, with a focus on the support to the coordination of the engineering activities related to the operations and the evolutions of the EO Ground Segment elements. Tasks and activities The scope of work will include: Review Technical documentation and actively participate to support PDGS maintenance and evolution activities and projects (e.g. by supporting SRR, PDR, CDR, QR, AR, ORR milestones). Support SoWs’ elaboration with the provisioning of high-level technical specifications and reference documents for software evolutions. Contribute to support high-level technical documentation maintenance (e.g. end to end operational scenarios, functional specifications, operational concepts…). Provide Engineering Support to the execution of ad-hoc activities derived from the change control board processes (e.g. by providing support to the technical assessment of implementation proposals, by monitoring the execution of the overall delivery process until the final deployment in operations). Support the industry made implementations’ technical analysis and monitoring to ensure the compliance with the requirements. Participate to technical meetings and communication meetings with the client. Manage the different assigned stakeholder involved in the activities (e.g. the customer, the industry representatives, the other involved services). Prepare the transfer to operation plans (and coordinate the transfer to operation process) for new systems, complex configurations, new services or existing systems impacted by major changes. Skills and experience The following skills and experience are mandatory: Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical or scientific discipline (e.g. Space system engineering), with 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience. Knowledge of system engineering. Knowledge in programming and technical applications. Good technical writing skills with capabilities to synthesize. Good organizational skills. Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment. Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill. Fluent in English, both written and spoken. The following skills and experience would be highly desirable: Knowledge of the ESA Missions’ PDGSs. Experience in ESA internal engineering processes. Knowledge of Earth Observation context. Knowledge of ESA applied standards (e.g. ECSS) and applications (e.g. ServiceNow/TellUS).
