Who We Are Looking For:
Join our global team as the Director, Finance leading the financial function in the EU region.
Director, Finance (EU) is responsible for managing all aspects of the region’s financial health and long-term growth.
As Director, Finance (EU) you will establish and maintain the region’s financial strategy to ensure profitability and oversee finance and accounting operations of the Bloc Milan (Italy) and Bloc Basel (Switzerland) offices. In collaboration with the Office leads, you will develop the business strategies, oversee operations and ensure maximum performance. You will work and steer key day-to-day activities together with the heads of the offices in Milan and Basel and Business Unit leads to drive our financial initiatives. Scope includes full P&L management, decision support, forecasting, resource allocation, ROI analysis, tax & stats and controls framework.
This is a hybrid role covering both partnering with business leads and financial control aspects. The incumbent should have experience in both areas to be able to deliver value.
The roles will be based in Milan, Italy with ad-hoc travel to Basel, Switzerland.
In This Role You Will:
* Supervise and ensure timely and accurate execution of all accounting and financial (e.g., budget, latest estimate month end close, controlling, reporting, taxation, treasury, internal audit) tasks, full P&L management.
* Manage fiscal (i.e., profitability) results with the Office leads and Leadership Teams.
* Provide robust and objective financial analysis, offering insights and recommendations to Office Leads and Business Unit leads to support decision-making, lead resource optimization initiatives, pricing strategy, and identify new growth opportunities.
* Ensure implementation and adherence to EU guidelines, financial laws and The Bloc guidelines and policies.
* Supervise budget control, financial analysis, budget reporting.
* Be aware of the company’s financial position and act to prevent problems.
* Lead or take part in local and EU projects.
* Manage relationships and work in partnership with management teams and function leads in Milan and Basel as well as The Bloc’s global teams
* Supervise, coach and mentor Financial Department staff.
Your Key Objectives will be:
* Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's overall goals and objectives, ensuring long-term financial health and sustainability.
* Lead the financial planning and analysis process, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling, to provide insights for decision-making and resource allocation for Bloc Milan and Bloc Basel
* Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards, maintaining transparency and accountability.
* Implement cost control measures and optimize operational efficiency to improve margins and maximize profitability.
* Integrate sustainability into financial decision-making and reporting, aligning financial goals with environmental, social, and governance priorities.
* Continuously evaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and controls to adapt to changing business conditions and drive operational excellence.
What You'll Need:
* Degree in accounting, finance, economics, or relevant field.
* In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws and best practices
* 9+ years of progressive experience in Finance leadership position, including 3+ years of people management experience.
* Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting
* Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management and reporting software
* Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret financial data to inform strategic decisions.
* Thorough understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and reporting requirements.
* Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and effectively to stakeholders.
* Fluency in Italian and English. Knowledge of German is a plus.
* Experience in pharma market preferred.
