Gorgonzola hosts Navigations Air Systems (NAS) domain. The activity of NAS domain: avionics, navigation and radar systems for civil air traffic and technologies supporting the activities of civilian and military pilots, ATC controllers and technicians of several airlines, air traffic control agencies and Air Force around the world. Italy is the Group’s Competence center for the design, production and delivery of Navigation Aids products and Competence Centre for the delivery of non-Radar Surveillance Products.
Thales Navigation And non-radar Surveillance (NAS) business segment, part of the Thales Land and Air Systems Global Business Unit, architects solutions used by two-thirds of all planes worldwide to take off and land safely.
Our Ground Navigation portfolio offers a complete range of products, which includes the latest generation of ground-based navigational aids (NAVAIDs) (e.g. ILS, DME, TACAN, VOR) and nonradar surveillance (e.g. ADS-B).
With more than 7,000 NAVAIDs and non-radar surveillance installed worldwide in 172 countries, we are world leaders in the NAVAIDs market.
Responsibilities
* Participate in an integrated agile engineering team composed of several disciplines such as Cyber, Software, Mechanics, Radio frequency, Safety, Design, service, manufacturing, etc., in order to develop new products or propose improvements to existing products.
* Perform studies and simulations to validate innovative concepts and verify the performance of these innovations on the real system.
* Analyze stakeholders’ requirements.
* Produce and maintain product System Specifications and the product external interfaces.
* Analyze the System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) requirements to determine relevant modifications to the hardware and software.
* Support the hardware and software teams in the specifications and interfaces of the subsystems of the product.
* Contribute to system IVVQ activities by defining the test strategy, writing test procedures, and conducting integration, verification, and qualification tests.
Required Skills and Experience
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years’ experience or a Master's with 4+ years’ experience.
* Master's degree in Engineering in one or several of the following disciplines: Electronic, Digital, Telecom, Radio frequency, Aerospace.
* Experience in systems engineering.
* Overall engineering knowledge: Electronic, Software, Telecom, mechanical, Radio frequency, and engineering processes.
* Good knowledge of standard Office tools (e.g., MS Office).
* Team spirit to collectively find the most effective way to reach team objectives.
* Capacity to solve complex problems independently or by requesting support and explaining in a synthetic way how to solve them.
* Fluency in English and Italian is a must; ability to speak additional languages such as German or French is a benefit.
The candidate should:
* Have a basic knowledge of Navigation and Surveillance equipment such as ILS, VOR, TACAN, DME, ADSB, MLAT, WAM, etc., and in the technical field of air navigation and surveillance services and on the various regulations/standards such as ICAO or specific local standards.
* Be proficient in the use of issue tracking software (e.g., Jira).
* Be proficient in the use of requirement management tools (e.g., DOORS).
* Be proficient with at least one of MATLAB or Python for scientific analysis.
* Be self-motivated, a critical thinker with a strong curiosity to learn.
* Possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
