Team Overview and Job responsibilities
We are looking for anInvestment & Cost Controller Engineer who will report to the CAPEX Manager of the Business Unit Transmission (Powerlink, part of Prysmian Group) and will be based in our HQ in Milan, Italy.
The Investment & Cost Controller Engineer main tasks are to support the governance and management of manufacturing investments aimed at increasing capacity and capability of the Group's High Voltage Submarine and Land Plants. He/She will play a crucial role in managing the economicaspects of the investment projects and their planning.
Who are we looking for?
AsInvestment & Cost Controller Engineer your primary focus will be on creating detailed economical plans, tracking project progress and managing budgets to secure investment approvals and to maintaineconomical control throughout the project lifecycle.
The main duties of the role are the following:
Business Case Development:
1. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Machinery, Finance, Sales) to gather information and assess the feasibility of proposed investments.
2. Support CAPEX Team to prepare comprehensive business cases, outlining the financial aspects, potential risks, and expected returns of proposed projects.
Budget Management:
3. Partner with machinery, plant and procurement team to establish project budgets and ensure alignment with overall financial objectives.
4. Monitor and control project expenditures, identifying and addressing budgetary variances promptly.
5. Cooperate with Procurement Team to identify alternative suppliers and monitor actual suppliers’ saturation.
6. Support the continuous alignment between different functions involved with Investment projects, regardingshort term and long term spending plan.
Execution Oversight:
7. Collaborate with project teams to track progress against the established timelines and budgets.
8. Implement effective controls to mitigate risks and optimize resource utilization.
Reporting and Analysis:
9. Generate regular reports on project economics, highlighting key metrics and variances.
10. Conduct post-project financial analysis to assess the accuracy of initial projections and identify areas for improvement.
Key requirements:
11. Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Management Engineering
12. Experience in financial analysis, budget management, and project accounting.
13. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail
14. Excellent communication and presentation abilities
15. Proficient in English, written and spoken; other languages (French, German, Finnish, Italian) will be a plus.
16. At minimum three years of experience on EPCI projects
17. Experience with Microsoft Project and SAP
18. Travel expected: about 20%
19. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and investments in production facilities is a plus.
