The role supports the media business, advising Disney+ (Direct-To-Consumer) in Italy as well as the D2C and the linear channels business in Greece with a focus on marketing, advertising, regulatory and consumer law matters.
Working closely with the marketing, advertising sales, production, creative, CSR, finance and controllership teams, and with other members of the legal and privacy teams to ensure full compliance of marketing campaigns, promotions, events, partnership deals of Disney+ and the linear channels in Greece.
The role will require you to be onsite 4 days a week.
Key Tasks/Objectives
1. Work closely and be first point of contact for Italy and Greece with EMEA Disney+ team and DSS Disney+ team to provide advice and draft relevant legal documentation in relation to Disney+ new functionalities, updates, promotional offers, global promotional campaigns, events, and new projects.
2. Draft, negotiate, and provide advice to Disney+ local advertising team for ad sales agreements on Disney+. Work closely with EMEA team to ensure compliance with advertising regulations for both Italy and Greece.
3. With reference to the linear channels business in Greece, work closely with local team and EMEA team to ensure compliance with regulatory framework requirements.
4. Define issues, perform legal research, analyze problems, evaluate alternatives, and make appropriate recommendations to the business providing ongoing legal analysis and counseling to internal teams in a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, digital media, regulatory, consumer law, and data protection.
5. Review and analyze marketing campaigns and promotions and provide legal advice to the business to best structure the campaigns, events, and/or the commercial deals.
6. Draft, negotiate, and provide advice to local production team for promotional agreements, promotional content production, talent agreements, product placement, sponsoring, and promotional activities related to local production content promotion.
7. Work closely with the Health & Safety manager (RSPP) to address H&S matters in relation to Disney events and promotional activities and have good control of the H&S Italian legislation.
8. Monitor local and EU Law developments.
Deal Management
1. Work closely with the direct-to-consumer EMEA and US team, marketing (DTC and performance), creative, advertising, and production teams to develop deal negotiating strategy and deal structure, optimizing potential rights structures consistently with Disney approach in EMEA.
Experience & Professional Qualifications
* Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 8 years PQE, in private practice (within media/entertainment sector) or in a media/entertainment business, or a combination of both.
* Excellent knowledge of contract and commercial law, consumer law, copyright, data protection, European digital strategy regulatory framework.
* Significant contract drafting experience.
* Television and/or digital media experience (preferably in distribution and/or streaming).
Other
* Fluent English is required for the role.
* Greek language would be a plus.
