ELI - Avionic Sub-system Engineer
Job Description:
Mission:
Analyse customer needs and define technical requirements for new avionic equipment to be procured, acting as internal focal point for all the suppliers’ activities and driving software development activities according to the defined design.
Provide support for all the needs of the Avionic System Development area in terms of:
* computer interfaces behaviour and compatibility with external sensors and other avionic equipment
* qualification requirements, test setup and execution of the procured equipment
* analysis of integration issues identified during experimental flight activity, in final assembly lines and on in-service aircrafts
Activities and responsibilities of the role include:
* defining technical requirements to be submitted to suppliers for equipment development and qualification, based on internal programs’ needs
* interfacing and managing suppliers for design, development and qualification activities of the procured equipment
* collaborating with the development team to identify design solutions to be implemented in the software application to correctly interface the developed equipment
* collaborating with other company areas to investigate interface compatibility and/or issues with sensors, aircraft systems and avionic equipment
Requirements:
* high school diploma or degree in a technical field (e.g. Electronic, Computer Science, Automation or Telecommunication Engineering; Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering)
* 3/5 years' experience as Avionic Subsystem Engineer or similar role
* strong electrical and electronics competence for both analogue and digital circuitry and components including power distribution systems
* knowledge of analogue sensors characteristics and interface with I/O acquisition boards (e.g. strain gauges, thermocouples/RTDs, accelerometers, magnetic pick-ups, LVDT RVDT, shunt...)
* use of laboratory instruments (oscilloscopes, signal generators, multi-meters, ...)
* knowledge of aeronautical standards and guidelines for systems development (DO-160, DO-254, MIL-STD-810, ...); knowledge of safety critical software development guidelines (DO-178) is a plus
* understanding of EMC protection circuitry design
* knowledge of civil and military certification/qualification regulations and processes
* knowledge of Aeronautical standard and commercial communication protocols and interfaces (i.e. RS232/422/485, Arinc429, Arinc664/AFDX, Ethernet, CAN, MILSTD1553...)

* good knowledge of spoken and written English
* strong problem solving capabilities and proactive customer satisfaction approach
* team working in a cross-functional and geographical team
* project management skills
* inclination to work in line with standards, rules and objectives
