JOB SUMMARY:
The Buyer Specialist is responsible for leading the team that manages the relationships with suppliers, follows the strategies of central purchasing, and ensures production with the procurement of parts.
Responsibilities include:
1. Managing the purchase of medium-high complexity production parts for the plant in Europe in the F&W Metallic commodity group.
2. Managing the external company in charge of the purchase requisition and sourcing activity following KPI as Ageing and Purchase requisition backlog.
3. Managing the decomplexity through rationalization plan and localization.
4. Developing the strategy of Weldments.
5. Supporting function for new product launch initiatives while developing and implementing cost reduction and sourcing strategies, leading to improved quality, technology, and timely delivery performance.
6. Driving, forecasting, and reporting economic savings performance, negotiating price reductions, increases, and long-term agreements, market test, and award new business to maximize leverage, analyzing various reports to capture opportunities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
SOURCING MANAGEMENT
Supplier selection for new products, focused on:
1. Total Cost (piece price, tooling, transportation, packaging, etc.)
2. Quality & Timing
Key Stake Holder Management:
1. Alignment of all key stakeholders’ objectives during the sourcing process.
TOTAL ACQUISITION COST MANAGEMENT
Identify risks and opportunities for the total cost of current products:
1. Forecast budgetary impacts of risks and opportunities.
2. Raw material & Economic impacts.
3. Logistics, Transportation, Packaging Impacts.
4. Currency & Tariff impacts.
5. Capacity impacts.
Create mitigation plans for risks & implementation plans for opportunities:
1. Resourcing & Market test current products.
2. Technical cost reductions.
3. Tracking raw material indices.
4. Best Place to buy.
5. Spend analysis (Dual source, volumes, MOQ, etc.).
Lead negotiations for total cost improvement of current products:
1. Raw material & Commercial using back leverage (MKT test, new business, resourcing, etc.).
Lead cross-functional activities for total cost improvement projects with internal customers and support functions:
1. Resourcing & Technical cost reductions.
2. Change/Improve logistic flows.
RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT (SUPPLY BASE)
Supply/Relation Champion:
1. Escalation to resolve supply base issues.
2. Product cost disputes & Invoicing issues.
3. Quality concerns.
4. Delivery delays & Product development timing delays.
Contract Negotiations:
1. Long term purchasing agreements.
2. General terms & conditions.
3. Raw material indexation agreements.
4. Warranty agreements.
5. Co-development agreements.
6. Non-disclosure agreements.
7. World class manufacturing agreements.
8. Compliance agreements.
PURCHASING STRATEGY MANAGEMENT
Define/create interim and long term purchasing strategies to secure the supply of products:
1. Lowest cost, Acceptable quality, On-time delivery.
Best in class product innovation and development:
1. Identify product innovation & industry trends.
2. Identify market demands & competitive benchmark.
PURCHASING ADMINISTRATION
Create purchasing price list and contracts in the GPP system:
1. Update contracts and part number changes after potential technical changes, accomplished negotiations, carry over of p/n to new platform etc.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
1. Short/Master Degree in Economics, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or Finance preferred.
2. Fluent English.
3. Excellent knowledge in Excel and the Office package.
4. Relevant product/commodity knowledge.
5. Knowledge of local supplier’s market for the relevant product/commodity.
6. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the position.
