Data Science and Analytics Consultant
The Data Science & Analytics Consultant role is embedded in the global Risk Consulting team which consists of more than 400 risk experts in 23 countries. AXA XL Risk Consulting supports Underwriters in the assessment of the risks AXA XL is insuring and assists Clients in the identification, evaluation, anticipation, and prevention of their risks.
As Data Science & Analytics Consultant, you will be responsible for developing innovative risk modelling solutions for clients and underwriters. This will involve leveraging our high-quality engineering expertise and extensive experience across multiple industry sectors, as well as developing digital risk modelling tools across various risk domains. These tools will be made available to our clients on proprietary platforms.
Moreover, you will contribute to onboarding internal resources for newly developed offers and guide the introduction of these new offers into target markets. You will also deliver the service relying on field risk engineers when needed.
In more detail, the Data Science & Analytics Consultant will identify relevant internal and external data to enhance our risk knowledge. They will harness the potential of new technologies, deciding whether to develop solutions internally or partner with external providers. Their primary focus will be on developing new solutions to meet clients’ needs for improved identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risks. Additionally, they identify new development opportunities based on their skills, client and underwriting needs, and evolution of technologies, leveraging wider AXA Group innovation structures when necessary.
As part of this role, your essential responsibilities will include:
* Contribute to the development of a multi-peril risk assessment approach for small, mid-size, and large companies.
* Leverage Natural Language Processing and web scraping technology to identify and assess third-party risk associated with client business activities.
* Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets, looking at data across industries, regions, and portfolios.
* Contribute to the development of a methodology to assess how a client's risk management practices compare to those of similar businesses, with the aim of identifying opportunities for improving risk management.
Developing tools:
* Develop digital risk engineering solutions to remotely assess the risks of large portfolios of sites.
* Develop internal tools and dashboards for risk assessment.
* Support system configuration, documentation, data interface design, data migration, and data reconciliation.
* You will report to the Natural Hazards and Analytics Services Manager.
We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:
* Degree and education with a quantitative background (e.g., engineering, statistics, computer science).
* Expertise in statistical tools and programming languages like Python, R, SQL, VBA, Java, Power BI, etc.
* Knowledge in natural hazards or climate change is considered a plus.
* Effective analytical problem-solving skills, business mindset, can-do attitude, and ability to assimilate complex information.
* Client-facing skills and a consultant approach.
* Project management experience in running client projects while working with cross-functional and/or virtual teams.
* Fluency in English and Italian is required. Other languages are considered a plus.
* Flexibility to travel.
