The Villanova Sales Manager is responsible for maintaining existing Villanova University business and soliciting new Villanova University business through presentations, site tours, and technical communication. The individual in this position is responsible for generating budgeted revenue; monitoring booking pace; understanding sleeping room rates; creating strategies to enhance the booking of repeat business while keeping quality consistently high; and conducting sales calls by visiting University departments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Achieving or exceeding individual revenue goals and guest service goals.
* Responding to multiple avenues of event & sleeping room leads in a timely manner.
* Plan and implement marketing strategies that cultivate the property as an extension of the University.
* Prospecting, identifying, and securing all University events including, but not limited to; meetings, conferences, department retreats, sports banquets, and social parties.
* Actively solicits new business through a variety of communications including phone calls, e-mails, and site tours in order to secure contracts and ensure customer satisfaction.
* Participates in professional membership organizations to meet new prospects and remain updated with industry information and trends.
* Inputs data to generate contracts, update client files, and enter information into Delphi.
* Produce and analyze weekly reports.
* Exercise good judgment to make profitable business decisions.
* Ensuring that the property is maximizing the use of all Villanova University and local programs (i.e. CVB’s, PAMPI, Networking memberships).
* Ensure departmental office work is completed accurately and on time.
* Perform additional duties and assist with special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Formal Education - High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred but experience considered in lieu of a degree.
* Specific Job Knowledge - Ability to practice time management in a busy office to achieve task importance. Strategic planning, marketing, budgeting, and analytics to drive measurable results and focus resources on work that will excel revenue growth.
* Minimum Work Experience - 2+ years of combined sales, property inventory system, reporting, contract negotiations.
* Work Skills - Able to articulate a well-crafted e-mail. Professional phone etiquette. Team oriented. Able to handle difficult guest service situations with a calm and clear perspective.
* Equipment Knowledge - PC, General A/V.
Preferred Qualifications:
Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work Hours: Some parts of event space are located outdoors. Standing for long periods of time during events.
