The Role and What You’ll Do:
The Analyst/Event Accountant will be the key contact reporting the performance of the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games and assisting in the event closeout process. The candidate must have a proactive and adaptive approach to work as well as a willingness and interest in understanding the nature of the business and the many factors affecting it.
* Support the Finance Manager and wider finance team.
* Partner with the dedicated Operations team to support event finances.
* Support the Operations team to ensure they have clear and concise information for decision making.
* Conduct quantitative analysis of operational and financial data, including monthly financial analysis, ongoing event projections, reforecasting, variance analysis, cost commitments, and product analysis.
* Identify, consolidate, and manage reporting data from multiple sources.
* Provide monthly variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior year.
* Support budget and forecast builds by summarizing actuals as a baseline to inform strategic planning discussions.
* Flag potential risks and opportunities as necessary.
* Perform month-end close activities, including but not limited to:
o Ensure the month-end P&L and balance sheet are in line with forecast.
o Provide commentary to any variance to forecast.
o Coordinate with Operations to ensure appropriate Event Accruals are accounted for in compliance with GAAP standards.
o Ensure accuracy of accounting coding to report on actuals efficiently.
o Ensure cash flow requests are accurate, complete, and communicated to management appropriately.
o Complete ad hoc reports/projects as required.
You Have These:
* Advanced Microsoft Office experience, particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Strong experience in accounting, finance & budgeting.
* Ability to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, experience presenting analyses to management.
* Eagerness to be resourceful.
* Excellent planning & organizational skills to manage multiple projects & deadlines simultaneously.
* Process-oriented and able to manage and reconcile large data sets in multiple company-wide systems.
* Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative nature, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
* Strong focus on seeking efficiencies with attention to detail.
* Fluent Italian speaker.
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, or equivalent experience required.
We’d Love If You Also Have These:
* Event experience.
* SAP/Netsuite accounting software knowledge.
* CPA (or qualified through experience).
* 1-2 years of relevant, professional experience.
* Ideal background experience includes but is not limited to consulting, corporate FP+A, or accounting in the live event/media industry.
Travel: Travel may be required.
Working Conditions:
* Fixed Term Position – Milan, Italy.
* Working hours are: 9am-5pm plus any additional hours to complete deadlines.
* Working days are: Monday-Friday.
