We are seeking a Communication System Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
1. In the design phase, support the definition of uW Instruments and communication subsystem functional and performance requirements by performing analysis and assessment activities related to uW Instruments (P/L) and Comm. S/S (e.g., Radiometers, P/L data Handling and Transmission systems, Communication systems, radar-related systems).
2. Define, implement, and maintain models and software tools for simulating P/L or S/S functionalities and main performances.
3. Define and implement RF budgets.
4. Define the command and control interface.
5. Define and implement related Link Budgets as applicable.
6. Contribute to the definition of Payloads or S/S architecture.
7. Define and implement related I/F and budgets (Data Handling, Electrical, RF).
8. Support relevant equipment and sub-assembly, internal and external supplier technical monitoring, and relevant review attendance.
9. Assess and evaluate P/L or S/S functionalities and performance based on test results during the verification and validation phases of the program.
10. Support system and verification engineers with relevant AIT campaigns as applicable.
11. Participate in meetings and reviews with internal and external customers.
12. Prepare documents and presentations.
13. Contribute to program reports and meeting minutes.
14. The activity conducted under Italian Defense National Authority Rules requires eligibility for security authorization/clearance.
Required Background:
1. Masters degree in Electronic/Telecommunication Engineering.
2. Background in communication systems with a focus on space applications.
3. Digital and RF electronic knowledge for data handling, processing, and wide-band communication, TT&C.
4. Familiarity with on-board data interface buses: MIL 1553 B, CAN SpaceWire, High-Speed Serial Link (WizardLink).
5. Knowledge of radio communication and protocols, information theory, advanced coding, and modulation techniques.
6. Matlab proficiency.
7. Programming language skills (e.g., C, Visual Basic).
8. MS Office products expertise.
9. English language proficiency for written and verbal communication.
10. Eligibility for security authorization/clearance under Italian Defense National Authority Rules.
