LASERCOM SYSTEM ENGINEER – ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a LASERCOM SYSTEM ENGINEER to help shape the future of space optical communications. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and a strong team player. We seek a results-driven individual who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, particularly in the areas of mechanical engineering, electronics, and operations.
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO
1. System level activities related to the design and realization of Optical Ground Stations for Laser Communication and/or Satellite Laser Ranging, including:
2. System definition and sizing
3. Sub-system requirements downflow, definition and management
4. Definition and management of interfaces
5. Establishment and maintenance of relevant performance budgets
6. Analysis and simulation activities
7. Definition of verification approach
8. Contribution to integration and verification activities
9. Preparation of documentation
10. Identification and coordination of subcontractors and supervision of their activities
11. I/F with Customer
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS FOR AN OPTICAL ENGINEER
1. Master’s degree or PhD in engineering or physics
2. Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in optical systems for laser communication
3. Experience in one or more of the following application areas:
4. Free space satellite optical communication
5. Laser beam propagation
6. Knowledge of Matlab/Python/Octave
7. Knowledge of Office
8. Results-oriented, reliable, proactive approach and a good team working attitude
THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE
1. Relevant technical knowledge in one of these areas:
2. Adaptive optics and wave front sensing technology
3. Laser physics and photonics
4. Optical communication
5. Pointing acquisition and tracking
6. Knowledge of software tools for the design and simulation of optical communication systems
7. Knowledge of Zemax
