We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Specialist Italy (Maternity Cover)
Department overview:
The Payroll Department is an integral part of the MK EMEA finance team, responsible for processing payroll in compliance with applicable laws. We ensure timely and accurate payments to employees and third parties, including social security, pension, and tax authorities, across 20 European countries.

You are detailed oriented, good at organizing your workday, a good communicator and capable of working with minimal supervision, honest, good at following instructions well, competent with spreadsheets.
What You’ll Do:
You will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and efficient payroll services, with a strong focus on compliance and providing an excellent experience for MK employees. This role also serves as backup support within the team.
Manage the payroll process for Italy, ensuring timely and accurate payments to employees and third parties (social security, pension, and tax authorities)
Act as the primary contact with external payroll providers, submitting data for the monthly payroll process, reviewing preliminary reports, and approving the final version of payslips
Upload bank files for salary payments in the treasury platform and request the necessary approvals
Coordinate social security, pension, and withholding tax payments with the treasury team
Provide the accounting team with journal entries based on information processed in the monthly payroll (including accruals) and follow up on any necessary reconciliations
Serve as the direct contact for auditors regarding payroll-related queries during the statutory financial statement process
Resolve employee payroll inquiries professionally and efficiently
Perform SOX controls as implemented at the MK Europe level
Prepare and maintain standard and ad hoc reports based on payroll data, including statistical reports and KPIs
Keep standard operating procedures up to date
Collaborate and support projects such as payroll migration, time and attendance system implementation, and integration between payroll provider systems and HR systems
You’ll Need to Have:
Diploma/Degree in HR/Economic educational background
Proven experience as payroll specialist or in a similar role (at least 3 years +) within multinational organization and CCNL Commercio
Professional knowledge of payroll accounting and labor law, social security, and income tax law
Experience in HR administration processes
Proficiency in English; knowledge of another European language is a plus
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Familiarity with Zucchetti and Workday is a plus
