Our client is a main contractor in the Navy and shipbuilding industry and is currently hiring for its Engineering Department an EW SYSTEM ENGINEER in charge of the technical control of PAAMS systems as part of the mid-life overhaul of the frigates.
đź’ˇ Role and responsabilities
Given the technical nature of the systems for which he will be responsible and the particular context of a mid-life overhaul, the EWS Systems Engineer sought is an experienced engineer, mastering the issues of design, integration and interfaces of combat systems technically and industrially complex and proven knowledge of anti-aircraft systems.
The candidate will have demonstrated knowledge in the field of complex subsystems integrated into the Combat System of 1st tier ships (Architectures, functional and physical interfaces - CMS, CSPI - and performance of integrated systems on board). As an EWS Systems Engineer, he must master the technical interfaces with the major suppliers of the subsystems/equipment for which he will be responsible for the Company (Discussion of interfaces, allocation of requirements and monitoring of technical progress and associated proof of conformity) as well as the security issues which are induced by this equipment (EMC/EMI, RadHaz, Pyrotechnics, Weapons implementation security).
Equipped with proven technical management qualities to technically monitor the development and integration by supplier contractors of the PAAMS system, he will contribute to the overall control of the revised CS of the Company’s HRZ frigates working in particular for the benefit of the architects of 'Together and Combat System.
The AAW/PAAMS Systems Engineer sought is an experienced engineer, mastering the design issues of particularly complex Combat Systems, with demonstrated knowledge in the field of CS subsystems (Architecture, CSPI, performance of integrated systems).
The AAW/PAAMS System Engineer is responsible for the management in the engineering team of the external interfaces with the CS and with the Ship, and for monitoring the execution by the manufacturers concerned of the studies, development, qualification, functional and physical integration, security of the systems for which he will be responsible (PAAMS).
In particular, for his area of responsibility, he will participate in:
* proofreading documentation from PAAMS suppliers, for the part in interface with the Company, CS Integrators and CMS suppliers
* the production of internal documentation (Documents, Presentations, compliance matrices, etc.)
* the integration phase of the PAAMS subsystems with the CS subsystems
* the testing phase on board the ships as a privileged interface between PAAMS and Ship/CS.
The MLU HRZ AAW Systems Engineer will be required to carry out, in close collaboration with other engineering specialists who will work on the project, systems engineering tasks and requirements management (including those that are not specified).
Mastery of the configuration, technical contribution to carrying out technical reviews and major stopping points with the various stakeholders (internal and external), at key milestones, is essential and will be one of the responsibilities of the AAW specialist. Technical mastery, including the security aspects linked to the systems integrated into the Armed Ship and concern for the quality of the data produced and study deadlines and constructive relations with the manufacturers in charge of the development of the systems are essential elements and will constitute position KPIs.
Generally speaking, the MLU HRZ AAW system will guarantee compliance of the interfaces between the PAAMS system and the CS/Ship with the requirements. It will rely on members of the Company’s engineering team and other contributors, in particular the PAAMS supplier, the parent companies by defining and applying the principles of subsidiarity and control essential in an industrial organization of this size.
🔍 Requirements:
* Engineer graduate (Master) with at least 10 years of experience as a systems engineer or architect of complex combat systems and proven knowledge of anti-aircraft systems
* Experience in technical management of subcontracting and co-contracting of specific studies in a complex multinational context (SoW, Specs, Acceptance). Contract management will mainly be carried out by business managers with whom the AAW system will be in close contact
* Exemplary and professional attitude towards demanding clients and “tier 1” subcontractors
* Proven leadership qualities to technically manage a team in the Functional and Physical Studies field, including representatives of parent companies and partners, and to unite the design team around the ARE. Monitoring, as main contractor, developments and tests with suppliers, on integration platforms and on construction sites
* Professional English (speaking, writing and reading)
* Successful work experience in maintaining combat ships in operational conditions would be a plus
