The Position
This position is a member of the Sales & Marketing Department. The Sales Engineer will report to the Director of Global Sales and will be part of a dynamic team advancing the Sales & Strategic Initiatives for our Capital Equipment Industries domestically and internationally.
Job Description
Primary Responsibilities
1. Develop good customer working relationships
o Must be able to effectively identify, communicate and work through customer problems, issues and opportunities
o Consistently deliver timely follow up with customers, managers and staff making communication a top priority
o Develop Strategic plans and work with local management to ensure growth
o Attain and/or maintain desired market position with assigned territory
o Develop personal relationships with strategic customer personnel
o Meet with prime customers on a regular basis (Domestic and International)
2. Promote “Bartell” products and services
o Maintain a good working knowledge of all “Bartell” products and services
o Make necessary sales/support calls and communication of issues between corporate and customer
o Develop and perform sales presentations
o Compile and issue product quotations and proposals
o Organize and attend trade shows as requested
o Support aftermarket service and parts sales.
3. Identify individual order opportunities for “Bartell” products and services
o Develop and execute market strategy
o Determine customer strategic goals and objectives
o Develop full understanding of customer requirements
o Develop and maintain accurate order forecast information
o Assist in the collection of general marketing information
o Develop a global account strategy to maximize “Bartell’s” opportunities
o Seek out and advise regarding competitor products and services
4. Convert order opportunities into sales orders
o Develop and implement action plans for individual order closure
o Arrange project closure meetings and conduct project negotiations as required
o Ensure engineering and manufacturing departments are advised and understand order profiles prior to order acceptance
o Interface with territorial agents and UK office and Qingdao office as required
5. Transfer customer requirements to internal departments
o Develop complete and accurate equipment specifications per ISO with customer
o Convey clear and concise specifications requirements via timely “Factory Order (FO)” release meetings
o Ensure internal schedules of events compliment customer requirements
6. Maintain project interface
o Coordinate project information between customer and internal departments
o Stay abreast of project developments and changes to scheduled events
o Coordinate customer visits to “Bartell” ensuring all relevant associates are timely advised
Job Requirements
Education
* Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Skills & Relevant Work Experience
* Engineering background - preferably in manufacturing related industries
* Commercial awareness and negotiating skills
* General market knowledge and contact base required
* Total “Bartell” product awareness
* Prior experience in extensive traveling including International visits, frequently more than 2 weeks
* Hands on working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
* Microsoft Dynamics (365) experience desired
Travel Requirements: Up to 50%
